Stable Mind Yoga was founded by Lara Anthony-Smith and Kathryn Thakrar, driven by their passion for yoga, mindfulness, and horse riding, which inspired the name “Stable Mind.” Our classes are hosted by Kathryn at her serene yoga studio, offering a picturesque view of the Hertfordshire countryside, where she resides with her family and a variety of animals.

Kathryn’s personal journey with yoga began 16 years ago during a challenging and stressful phase in her life. Through consistent yoga practice, she experienced profound physical strength, increased flexibility, enhanced stress management abilities, and a heightened sense of contentment. This transformative experience ignited her desire to share the gift of yoga with others.

To equip herself as a competent yoga instructor, Kathryn completed her yoga teacher training course with BWY (British Wheel of Yoga) in 2013. Additionally, she pursued training in children’s yoga with Calm for Kids, specific pranayama courses, and mindfulness training, while constantly engaging in ongoing personal development to stay up-to-date.

Kathryn firmly believes in making yoga inclusive and accessible to everyone. Understanding the apprehension and intimidation that can come with beginning something new, Stable Mind Yoga is committed to providing support to individuals with diverse levels of ability and experience in yoga. Moreover, one of Kathryn’s genuine passions lies in assisting others in commencing their yoga journey and guiding them on their path towards holistic embodiment and well-being. In addition to Kathryn’s love for yoga, Kathryn has a keen interest in nervous system regulation and the impact of trauma, whether big or small, on our subconscious. Her approach to yoga integrates practices that facilitate nervous system healing, promoting greater resilience and self-awareness for her students.

Stable Mind Yoga offers an evolved style of yoga, combining vinyasa (flowing between postures) and static postures to strike a balance between movement and stillness. This approach allows energy to flow freely within us until we are ready to pause, reflect, and connect with our breath, which serves as the conduit between the mind and body, fostering a profound awareness of our spirit.

Our classes are thoughtfully designed to encompass postures, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation, providing a comprehensive and enriching yogic experience.
